Description
A wet weather alternative. This route avoids the Exe Valley way route between Tiverton and Bickleigh. This normally excellent footpath along the Exe is difficult to impassable after days of wet weather. This tough and hilly route is safe and reasonably easy to follow. Makes for an enjoyable day out between these two towns. Steep hills and stiles are involved

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

08 Nov 2022It is a good alternative for when the Exe Valley Way path between Tiverton and Bickleigh is in flood. The way in and out of Tiverton is alongside the A396 for a mile or so between Tiverton and Ashley. However, there is a pavement throughout this section. Much of the rest of the route is on paths, which are reasonably well signed. There are steep hills and stiles. The views are good. Some road walking without pavement, but these are quiet lanes with little traffic. There is a pub at Cadeleigh and a pub and shop at Shobrooke.
