Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

15 Aug 2024It’s a gentle and straightforward walk with a good mix of fields, woodland, and road sections. However, the turn mentioned in below comment is masked by lush vegetation in the summer and can be easily missed, so keep an eye out as you approach.

15 Aug 2024This is a largely easy and enjoyable walk. Early on, we were so absorbed in walking along a broad dirt path that we missed the sign directing us to turn right onto a smaller path. It's a good idea to check the GPX of the Slow Ways route more frequently.
At Woodland Farm, there is a large sign indicating it's a private road, but if you walk past it and around the house, you'll find public pathway signage that leads you back to the fields. From there, it's an easy walk to Northleach.

06 Aug 2024A mostly pleasant, interesting walk along and through wheat fields, a former RAF field, and through woodlands. We went from Colesbourne to Northleach, and most of the navigation is straightforward, but some parts will probably require a close eye on the map. The terrain is largely gentle, but there are overgrown parts in the summer that have bramble and nettle, and even long trousers couldn't keep the stinging away!
Before reaching the end point of this route, we stopped by the Prison Cafe for lunch and refreshments, where there are also toilets and tables.

06 Jun 2024Walked from Northleach to Colesbourne today, with some variations to your route. Did not go via Oxpens Farm but continued to Road to Yanworth. After Stowell entrance, followed Monarchs Way footpath to Yanworth Mill. Turned right along path to Roman Villa ( NT, Toilets, Food ).
Had recently followed your route to Chedworth; this is a good all-weather route. Up the right hand path fro the Villa to aerodrome.Rough surface, could be tricky or worse descending in wet weather.
From the Whiteway, took the metalled track to Woodlands Farm. Next to farm entrance, followed sign heading south to bottom right of field. Stile and gate to path to Colesbourne. Pub at Colesbourne. Buses to Cirencester or Cheltenham.
Conclusion: good safe route with options if the terrain is very wet.

26 Jan 2024This is a fun walk! A few of small things to note:
At Woodlands farm the marked Slow Ways route takes you off the public footpath and down a private driveway through the farm itself. If you’re walking Northleach to Colesbourne, the correct route (along the edge of the field to the South East of the farm – ///satin.riverbed.plates) should be obvious, but if you’re walking Colesbourne to Northleach you’ll need to walk a short way past the left turn onto the private driveway and continue to the stile at ///prompts.deal.pushover.
There’s a slight detour off the marked path through the woods at Postcombe (///without.photocopy.pays) but it’s signposted.
At Chedworth Nature Reserve the Slow Ways route follows a path through the woods that doesn’t exist. The easiest route is to just take the main path through the woods, running from ///unionists.unwound.punks to https://w3w.co/wage.surprises.rather.
