Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

30 Oct 2023I haven't walked all of this one, but having walked CLAGLA two from Glapwell to Clay Cross and looked at the GPX plot for this one, the plotting is both lazy and confusing, so I think it deserves at least one red flag.

10 Nov 2022 (edited 13 Mar 2024)I'm tempted to fail this route because the plotting is so poor. My understanding is that it should be possible to follow a Slow Way from the plot alone (8. be easy to navigate). That would not be the case for this route, however two reviews have given it four stars so I'm going to pass it with just one star and recommend using Clagla-2 which has an accurate plot.

30 Oct 2023I agree - it definitely merits a flag, so I have reviewed it just to flag it! Thankfully the fact that you had already snailed it meant that I wasn't tempted to try this version.

16 Jun 2022 (edited 30 Oct 2023)I walked this route from Clay Cross. The line of the route is badly plotted. I think that the 1:25000 map is pretty essential to pick out the correct line. Clagla2 offers a much more sensibly plotted version.

30 Oct 2023CLAGLA two is very similar to this one but is much better plotted. Another review would snail it, and in my view you wouldn't need to walk it again to do that. I have flagged this one because the GPX plotting is appalling!

27 Mar 2022Pleasant walk with a couple of short, sharp climbs. First 1km is mainly road but after this it's trails & footpaths. Refreshments available in Hardwick park (NT) next to the Great Pond. Can be muddy in places during the winter months.
