Description
This route avoids the dangerous crossing of the A22 dual carriageway twice! The large roundabout (B2208/A22 junction) has pedestrian tunnels. The Woldingham Road has a sidewalk. Out of Caterham (from Mount Pleasant Road and Commonwealth Road) is a permissive footpath through privately owned land but well used by locals. Steep steps at beginning but otherwise easy to walk and pleasant. Watch out when crossing the golf course! There are shops and toilets at each end (currently (April 2024) the Warlingham toilets are temporarily closed)

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Apr 2024 (edited 29 Apr 2024)A good walk. Slightly longer than Catwar one but avoids the nasty road crossings. Out of Warlingham is Leas Road (toilets temporarily closed) then a steep footpath down to the golf course. The route across the greens is not totally clear although there's a signpost at each end. After crossing Woldingham Road the route follows cycle route 21 for a short distance then the school drive down to the railway arch. Woldingham Road has a pavement on the left down to the large roundabout at the A22 junction. The paths go under the road to the centre of the roundabout (use first exit). From Croydon Road is Tillingdown Hill which is quite steep and leads onto a permissive footpath at the top. This path is well used and mainly level except at the very end just before joining the public footpath from Commonwealth Road where there are steep steps (https://w3w.co/rally.cafe.author). The route ends down Mount Pleasant Road into the centre of Caterham where there are cafes, supermarkets, buses and trains to Croydon.
