Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

02 Sep 2024We walked CamImp in the Impington to Cambourne direction. The route from Oakington to the bridge over the A14 is quite a fast road with ditches and hedges on each side. This is not a safe way to walk, so a suggested alternative through Girton is given in the photos below. This also makes for a more interesting route going past the Old Crown in Girton and a number of information boards along side the access road next to the A14. The section of Oakington Road from the A14 crossing to Dry Drayton has a basic path on the left hand grass verge which seems to be metalled in places and makes that section much safer than expected. The route between Dry Drayton and Childerley involves crossing a couple of arable fields. The path was vague but discernible, even after ploughing, suggesting this is a well used route, but a sharp eye was needed to spot the exact location where the paths pass through some of the hedges. The final off-road stretch before St Neots Road is a green lane that was a little over grown and rutted in places. Overall a good route, especially with the suggested alteration when travelling on foot. If travelling on wheels the fields and green lane may be quite challenging depending on the time of year.
