SUE BURT
20 Jun 2024I walked this from Hedge End to Bursledon, almost all downhill. Initially on quiet roads with pavements which have dropped kerbs. The offroad paths are largely well surfaced - gravel, soil, or grass. However, short stretches are muddy or rutted which could become slippery after rain. The route is easy to follow. There are toilets and a picnic area, with a play area, a short detour from the path. Unfortunately, there are three stiles and a kissing gate which might be barriers for some. The final section is along a paved lane, which crosses quite a busy road, but there is a central island.

05 Nov 2022I walked this back in September. I could have sworn I reviewed it at the time, but clearly I forgot!
The route I walked went from Hedge End to Burseldon, starting on the main road through Hedge End where there are benches and a well-stocked, working public toilet.
To be honest, I think I remember the route well enough but I didn't make notes at the time so I won't add much detail. There were a couple of small sections of road walking and some of the route was on dirt/grass.
I really enjoyed walking this route - I would do it again and would recommend it to others. I knocked off one star for the very small amount of road walking just outside Bursledon station. I have walked that bit a few times before, but I personally never feel 100% comfortable.
