Description

The first part of this route takes advantage of the off-road walking/cycle ways, then heads onto the quiet Fawdon Park Road, passing Fawdon metro station, then down Jubilee Road for the majority of the route (making it easily navigable). It then heads on to Gosforth High Street via the very pleasant back lanes of Gosforth where you can enjoy some pretty buildings and gardens.
There are a couple of chicane barriers on the paths at the start but all but one are very wide with plenty of room. There is only one, some wooden barriers just after crossing the large roundabout near the start, which might be narrow enough to cause an issue - but if so, the detour down Kongston Park Road and then right down Fawdon Lane is easy and about equal in length.
(This route also finishes near some lovely cafes - you'll pass The Gosforth Trader near the end, and 1901 Cafe and Pink Lane bakery a stones throw from the finish!)

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.

Uploaded as a suggested alternative to the original route, as this is more direct and easy to navigate - not do many twists and turns. Start and end are via pleasant quiet paths and roads.
