Description
This route uses a mixture of footpaths, byways, bridlepaths and rural lanes. It has some gates but no steps. The route leaves Bracknell skirting the Bracknell shopping areas to the east and using an underpass under Millennium Way to follow two suburban streets north. Crossing Braybrook Recreation Ground we pick up an off-road byway to reach Larks Hill Open Space. Heading north along another byway brings us to Forest Road, which we follow east for a time, before heading north along rural lanes and passing Frost Folly, a small wildlife park. We then pick up leafy off-road footpaths to reach a short section >0.1 mile of Drift Road which we cross. Marked footpaths take us across two fields before joining up with Blackbird Lane bridleway heading north and subsequently along Moneyrow Green up to Holyport Green (where we pass two pubs). We’re back onto a main road to cross over the M4 before heading east to walk the length of Braywick Park, heading north until we meet the weir on The Cut and follow the river until it becomes York Stream, following this waterside footpath. A short section of road brings us to the end point at Maudsley Memorial Garden. It follows much of the route of the originally posted Bracknell to Maidenhead route, but it corrects 3 sections blocked by gated/private paths/roads, omits a long stretch down a fast road (Drift Road) with uneven verges and takes advantage of more off-road walking. The route lacks a pub/stop-over/resting place at its mid-point, but there are two villages with pubs, one towards the south of the route (Warfield) and one towards the north of the route (Holyport)

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
