26 May 2023Can confirm there is no through access between Old Point and Southdean Drive at Middleton on Sea.
I've made a new version Boglit Two which corrects this, based on advice given by previous reviewer.

11 Dec 2021 (edited 06 Feb 2022)After crossing the River Arun over the freshly painted pedestrian swing bridge, the route heads down the old Rope Walk then picks up a footpath beside a golf course. This path is on an embankment, but was quite muddy and slippery after some days of heavy rain. After about 1km it reaches Climping Beach where there is a car park with a public loo. Last chance before Bognor.
From here the path to Poole Place and Elmer is along the beach. It is most easily followed on the sand at low tide, otherwise it is across pebbles or sections along th field edge at the top of the beach.
From Elmer to Middleton Church the route is through residential streets heading away from the coast. It passes two pubs and a convenience store. There is a footpath sign pointing down Southdean Drive back to the beach from the church. It is here that the route cannot be followed as plotted. Southdean Drive is a cul-de-sac and there is no way through from here to Sea Drive. Instead you have to walk along the beach which involves a 500m section clambering over wooden groynes and worn concrete steps at the sea wall. Not ideal especially at high tide.
Once back on the route at Sea Lane, there is a footpath along the top of the beach all the way to Bognor. This is initilally over greensward but soon becomes a concrete promenade. Altough after recent storms, all the paths were covered with pebbles.
I enjoyed this as a costal walk, particularly the sections along Climping Beach. A short detour to check out the Bailiffscourt hotel at Atherington Beach is recommended. There is an accessibility issue as there is is some clambering and walking along pebble beach involved. The section between Southdean Drive and Sea Drive at Middleton needs to be revised. I suggest carrying along Elmer Road past Middleton Church until reaching Sea Lane, then heading back down to the coast.
