Help connect Bognor Regis

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bognor Regis’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

From Aldwick, the route strikes out across country along field paths through South and North Mundham. I agree with the previous reviewer, the ideal Slow Way from Chichester to Bognor would be to use SELCHI One from Chi to South Mundham, then pick up this route CHIBOG One from South Mundham to Bognor....

If I could, I'd give the first part of this walk from Arundel to Ford 3 stars and the second part from Ford to Bognor Regis 5 stars!...

It’s frustrating that there is not a good coastal path all the way; at Middleton I turned inland on a pleasant lane to join the main road through the village. There is one eroded field where the path is already falling away; at Climping beach there is a lot of sea defence, I couldn’t see the beach for the mountain of pebbles, and the footpath is on a raised bank of pebbles. The route turned inland, where there is a narrow lush footpath which had a lot of stinging nettles up to about my shoulder/head height....

I've made a new version Boglit Two which corrects this, based on advice given by previous reviewer....

I walked this route from Arundel to Bognor on 27-06-2022. From Ford the route heads across sections of the old airfield, across fields and around the side of old warehouses to reach Yapton....

It is better to follow the canal into (or out) of Chichester from Hunston, following the initial part of the route to Selsey (SelChi) rather than through Whyke. It makes for a nicer route into/out of the city than using residential streets....

I walked this route from Westergate to Bognor on 30/03/2022. The route is almost completely flat, around and across fields or along a well made farm track between Barnham and Felpham....

From Elmer to Middleton Church the route is through residential streets heading away from the coast. There is a footpath sign pointing down Southdean Drive back to the beach from the church. Southdean Drive is a cul-de-sac and there is no way through from here to Sea Drive. The section between Southdean Drive and Sea Drive at Middleton needs to be revised....

As for the route, we struggled to find the connection between Dallaway Road and Whyke Road. Other than this the routemap was roughly accurate (apart from the weird diversion up Palmer Place, which we ignored!) Overall, we found the route to be a quick and quiet way to get from Chichester to Bognor, so in that respect it succeeds :) (i took pics but can't get them from phone to laptop and can't login to site from phone for some reason - not recognising the password and Chrome password saving isn't working either)....
