Help connect Littlehampton
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Littlehampton’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates
Linked at both ends by train and bus stations with connections to Brighton and London. Possible to stay off the pebble beach if needed along the residential streets. Two sauna have opened on the beaches for summer if you had time to stop!...

It’s frustrating that there is not a good coastal path all the way; at Middleton I turned inland on a pleasant lane to join the main road through the village. There is one eroded field where the path is already falling away; at Climping beach there is a lot of sea defence, I couldn’t see the beach for the mountain of pebbles, and the footpath is on a raised bank of pebbles. The route turned inland, where there is a narrow lush footpath which had a lot of stinging nettles up to about my shoulder/head height....

Jane Taylor added Boglit two, a new walk from Bognor Regis to Littlehampton
Walk this routeI've made a new version Boglit Two which corrects this, based on advice given by previous reviewer....

Some small deviations onto residential streets (one unnecessary on Ferring Beach) before hitting Littlehampton proper....

A great summer walk alongside the river Arun from Littlehampton to Arundel...

We walked from Littlehampton to Arundel after a couple of weeks of dry weather in April. At Ford the route passes close by the Ford railway station and a pub (The Ship & Anchor)....

Under the bridge on Bridge Road (A259) if it is flooded you may need to go up the bank and around but other than that the route was fairly easy to walk. It was a very pleasant walk following the river up to Arundel and then after lunch we walked along it back to where we started in Littlehampton....

I met up with my friend at Littlehampton station. We met three people walking the other way, from ARUNDEL to Littlehampton a cyclist and a chap with a theodolite. I walked the quiet route, into the town to see friends, I’d lived there for years, and then, exhausted, went to stand at the bus stop where I waited for ages for the late, once an hour bus back to Littlehampton - Evidently I’d just missed one and should have taken a bus time table!...

From Elmer to Middleton Church the route is through residential streets heading away from the coast. There is a footpath sign pointing down Southdean Drive back to the beach from the church. Southdean Drive is a cul-de-sac and there is no way through from here to Sea Drive. The section between Southdean Drive and Sea Drive at Middleton needs to be revised....

I'd suggest using Patterson's Walk along the top of Ferring Beach, rather than the traced residential streets around South Drive....
