09 Apr 2023A route which makes a decent attempt at a Slow Way but definitely could be improved. The vast majority of the walk is along the pavement of the A4146 and connected main road. The pavement is set back far from the road and a series of wide underpasses allow you to walk through without having to cross any other roads. Safety is not an issue at all, but there is a feeling of relentlessness about it. I'm normally quite a fan of no nonsense Slow Ways but this stretched my tastes a bit. The route through Old Farm Park introduces some variety but in an unremarkable way. Arrival in Wavendon involves a very short section of road walking where there is no pavement. There is a short cross country section involving 2 kissing gates and then a walk along the pavement of the busy road to Woburn Sands. With a dual carriageway soundtrack I passed by some beautiful surroundings. If there is a way to pass through those surroundings en route, as well as connecting with some stations, then it could be a better Slow Way.
