Not Much to add to the previous 2 great reviews, This is a route I would use again but be aware it does get very wet underfoot in places after rain. But it is a pleasant walk. and only loses a start for the road noise ( but you do get used to that).

Generally a pleasant walk along the Blackwater River Valley. There are some major roads that this route uses pedestrian crosses for or bridges over/under. There were a number of seats on the route.

The route was generally level, excepting the slope to avoid steps at the BlackWater station. The steps up from the path alongside the A331 to the A325 can be avoided by a slope, but this was not taken in this review.

I would be happy to walk this route again.

29 Jun 2021 Summer

We walked this route in June on a dry day but it had been wet the day before. The route is probably the best way to walk between Blackwater and Frimley to avoid walking alongside busy roads the whole way. It starts at Blackwater Station car park and crosses the busy road intersection using pedestrian crossings near The Meadows Retail Park. The route then follows the established Blackwater Valley Path which you enter off the A30 – look out for the public footpath sign.

The route then crosses the Blackwater River via a wooden footbridge and enters an enclosed woodland before passing through a gate onto open land of Hawley Meadows. The route across the open land is on grass paths, gravel paths, tarmac and earth paths, passing through a couple of gates on the way and again over the river using an accessible wooden bridge. You’re never far from the river and soon the route hugs the river and in places is enclosed so can get muddy.

After passing under the M3 motorway right next to the river, the route emerges at Frimley Business Park where you walk between office buildings and the river. It’s here where the narrowest part of the route is situated at 100cm between a hedge and undergrowth bordering the river.

Shortly after the business park the route goes up 38 steps but there is a waymarked disabled/wheelchair path adding a couple of hundred metres or so. Both options lead to a pathway alongside the A325 dual carriageway before diverting to Frimley High Street near Frimley Station and along the High Street to Ye Olde White Harte public house at the far end.
