Help connect Blackwater
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Blackwater’s Slow Ways.

The section through Shepherd Meadows is a temporary diversion from the riverside route in SANBLA ONE while the river footbridge is closed for safety reasons. This section includes some low lying areas which in early November 2023 had significant surface water following continual wet weather, so boots or wellingtons definitely needed. Under normal circumstances this section is a pleasant walk across fields....

Slow Ways Cristie added Sanbla two, a new walk from Sandhurst to Blackwater
Walk this routeWe've heard that the bridge mentioned in Martin's review is still closed. See image below that we've received, taken from the Hampshire end. It would be worth seeing if another route is possible in the meantime....
Slow Ways Cristie
An attractive Slow Way along a stretch of the Blackwater Valley Path. It’s a short walk from Blackwater Station to the path beside the Blackwater River....

An easy to follow, straight and rather unappealing route between two conjoining towns right next to a busy London road. It could easily be followed on a wheelchair....

At the start, you can avoid the initial walk along the busy Yorktown Road by turning left at the southbound station exit, walking under the rail bridge, passing the northbound station exit and then taking a footpath on your left. This path follows the railway embankment and emerges at Swan Lane just past the Swan Lane rail bridge - see photos 2, 3 and 6. 2 - variation on route: go under rail bridge and pick up this foot path on your left after northbound station exit 6 - turn right into Swan Lane and through rail bridge (footpath on variation to route emerges on left on other side of bridge 8 - take river path on left immediately after bridge...

The complicated “Meadows” roundabout junction at Blackwater involves a quite a few signal controlled crossings but once on the A30 it’s an easy route to follow into Camberley....

Not Much to add to the previous 2 great reviews, This is a route I would use again but be aware it does get very wet underfoot in places after rain. But it is a pleasant walk. and only loses a start for the road noise ( but you do get used to that)....

This route was walked from Blackwater Station to Farnborough Station, and follows part of the Blackwater Valley Path, before turning off into Farnborough....

The route was generally level, excepting the slope to avoid steps at the BlackWater station....

Generally a pleasant walk taking in both Fleet Pond and Hawley Lake with some obstacles crossing and walking alongside the busy Fleet Road and accessing Minley Road and there is some road walking but on generally quiet roads. There are pedestrian crossing facilities across the busy A30. I would walk this route again....
Graham Field
The route then crosses the Blackwater River via a wooden footbridge and enters an enclosed woodland before passing through a gate onto open land of Hawley Meadows. After passing under the M3 motorway right next to the river, the route emerges at Frimley Business Park where you walk between office buildings and the river....
