Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

05 Jun 2023This is a lovely walk through the rolling Suffolk countryside. The route is mostly along pastured fields. The track is a mixture of field edges (sometimes the farmer has mown the way, sometimes you are wading through knee-deep grass) and mud tracks, with the occasional stretch of metalled road. There are two stiles and three areas with wooden steps.
The walk begins at the Bildeston village memorial and ends at the Hadleigh town square. The going is fairly easy across most of the route and can be walked in around 2 hours at a good pace. I would have given the walk 4 stars but for one section between Ash St in Whatfield and Rectory Rd in Semer. Here the track routes in a gulley alongside a wood and is very overgrown with nettles and other plants. Eventually it becomes completely impassable and you are forced to seek an alternative route to get to Whatfield village.
Other than that, on a warm June day, it's a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. The GPX made it very easy to navigate and with the proviso of the overgrown section, I would recommend this walk to others.
