Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

An excellent walk through a superb country park. Bargoed Woodland Park really is a gem and most of this walk is within this park. I understand a lot of the park is on reclaimed industrial land, mainly colliery and spoil tip sites, but a few decades on and you can hardly tell. Although it`s a woodland park, there are lots of glades and meadows and the path alongside the River Rhymney is lovely.
Although Bargoed Woodland Park is ideal for wheels, the next section goes through fields, with some access difficulties before coming out on the roads again on the outskirts of Blackwood. There was no style or gate at the start of the footpath off Waun Borfa Road (just after the crossroads with the A4049 main road) and it was overgrown, but this was the only obstacle. After the walk across the fields, it was a steady walk down through the suburbs and into the centre if Blackwood.
