Description

This diverts from the more direct route a little at each end to make the bulk of the route off-road following the Black Water Valley path. The area around North Camp has a diversion due to the fisheries - it’s much less pretty than it was around there, I’m afraid - however there is a pub at North Camp station. Hopefully the path may one day be restored and the nicer route will become available again (I won’t hold my breath!)

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Frequently Waterlogged and muddy between coleford bridge road and kebur, virtually impassable.

Obviously not the most direct route and in my opinion, given the Blackwater Valley Path runs along the very busy, polluted and noisy A331 there is very little advantage to using this. Better follow the pedestrian and cycle paths around the airfield, Shoe Lane and Basingstoke Canal if you are looking for greenspaces on your journey.

Except that in doing that, you don’t hit the ash vale node.

I would agree, there are better water to get Farnborough to Aldershot than going via Ash Vale.

However, the rotes are FarAsh and AldAsh - not FarAld as you seem to have used it for,

    Routes, not rotes.

Ah, I feel an idiot - this was AldFar…. Clicked wrong link.

Yes, there are more direct ways, this one was put in BECAUSE it gave some “outs” (it has been a while!)

(I saw FarAsh as well, and got muddled with my links, apologies)
