Description
The route follows the Basingstoke canal, except in Aldershot where it makes the most direct path to the canal.
At the west end of the canal is a fishery, which has a teahouse by the lake (get Eggs Benedict). Near Ash Vale are several facilities including an Indian restaurant, a Cafe, a corner shop; on the road to North Camp is a Tesco express and the Greedy Pig sandwich bar. (The cafe and sandwich bar close after the lunchtime rush).
In Ash, there is a parade of shops, and just north of Ash is the Admiral pub (off the canal) and the Swan (on the canal). The Swan is pricier.
Ash Vale is close to the Basingstoke Canal visitor centre, where there is a campsite

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
