Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Sep 2023This route is impossible because there is no way from the south west side of North Bridge Road directly into the bus station then rail station. I had scrutinised this on Google Maps street view before the walk, and I had come to the conclusion that there used to be a lift from this side of the road down into the bus station, but that it has been closed for a long time, since August 2016 or before. The sign on the wall was removed between May 2018 and May 2019, although the sign on the other side of the road suggests that it is still available!
Additionally, at Adwick Grange, the plot suggests that you can access the cycle track directly from the A638 bridge, but this is not the case. I wouldn’t have failed the route for this alone though because on the ground it is not too difficult to spot where you need to go, from either direction.

20 Sep 2023Generally a good route but let down in two places by poor plotting because maps do not help at these two locations. Inspection on the ground found the faults. No direct access to Cycle route at Great North Road and no access to bus station as shown.

20 Sep 2023 (edited 21 Sep 2023)Walked from Adwick to Doncaster. Most of the route is good, quick and direct, mostly on a well signposted cycle route. Unfortunately the route from North Bridge Road to Doncaster station cannot be followed as plotted, as the route down through the bus station goes from the east side of the road not the west - there is no exit from the west side other than the road tunnel. The detour from Centurion Way into the shopping centre is unnecessary and involves going through lockable gates, so may not be possible when the shops are closed.
Mary has submiited a new version that clarifies the route in a couple of crucial areas, and I have written a more detailed review with pictures there.
