Help connect Norbury
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Norbury’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates
Steps over the railway at Mitcham Eastfields can be avoided by going along Grove Road and using the level crossing, which is what John, the second reviewer, seems to have done....
Strider
Small changes, like going around Upper Norwood Rec to avoid long grass and a ditch, and following the Capital Ring rather than cutting down stairs, would have made it easier to navigate and wheel friendly....

I agree with Angus, the path through Norbury Park is better and shorter than the road walk....
JohnMyerson
Shops at each end of this route and Coffee Shop at Streatham Vale Road corner of Woodmansterne Road....

Only point on the 80% mark that didn’t make sense as you could of cut that bit off Other than that a nice walk...

I found myself facing a dead end, and while scratching my head working out an alternative route, someone drew my attention to a footpath alongside the nearby park. It’s not much of a tweak, but I’ve made Mitnor Two which incorporates the correction to the dead end problem, and also routes through Streatham Vale Park, which I enjoyed. Will flag this version as a ‘no’....

Wholly urban walk connecting two busy south London areas. Mostly residential streets, pavements; a few traffic free sections. There are steps at Mitcham Eastfields station (photo)....

A route past some lovely villas in Streatham. Through Biggin Wood and follwing the Capital Ring to the station...
Lizbiz70
A routecthat bypasses the smog of Streatham High Road and utilises little known paths. Nice walk....

The route does need a couple of minor tweaks as mentioned in the other review - when you enter Queen's Road Cemetery rather than turning right and walking through the cemetery to a gate that is now permanently locked, head straight on across the cemetery and then bear slightly left to exit at another gate....
Intrepid Rabbit
Short, enjoyable walk that includes some green spaces. Copley Park becomes quite steep going up to Streatham Common....
Intrepid Rabbit
However there is an exit on Pawsons Road almost directly opposite the Princes Road entrance....

Good route, but why not take the diagonal path through Norbury Park instead of along the road (Norbury Ave)? In the Spring months, the diagonal path at Norbury is flanked by daffodils on both sides, an added bonus. When you get to the Crystal Palace end, Stambourne Woodland Walk is worth exploring (cross the main road at the top of Westow Park, it's between two of the white gate posts on the eastern side of the road)....
Angus Hewlett
A good route but does involve some quite steep climbs and descents - though there are some good views to compensate. Being suburban it does involve a fair amount of street walking , but generally quiet and ranging from Victorian to early 20th century, interspersed with parks. You also pass through Biggin Wood, a small remnant of the Great North Wood originally covering much of what is now South East London which gave Norwood its name....
S J Blann
a slightly longer but more interesting route for the second part of the route would be to take Hill Path off Valley road - just down from where you emerged on Russel's Footpath - coming out opposite Streatham Common....
