The 'Sloways' route suggests crossing over here, but if you have the puff, carry on a few hundred meters to visit the beautiful remains of Egglestone Abbey, from where you can carry on along the south bank, or back track to cross the Abbey Bridge and walk the Demesnes ( I always prefer the former, as it saves a bit of time, and the Demesnes fields can be quite muddy)....
