After passing the fire station I reached the tedious A803, then all the windy footpaths to negotiate junction 15 of the M8. The long diagonal path through the Townhead housing was a lovely breath of fresh air, and the final walk to Glasgow Central Station passed some interesting bits of modern architecture, as well as Buchanan Bus Station, Queen Street Station, and George Square. A lot of this route was very pleasant but the middle 45% from the south end of Springburn Park to the start of Townhead was pretty horrible....

The canal is crossed twice by the route of the Antonine Wall, but I don’t think there is much of it visible here, just a couple of information boards....

This walk should be suitable for most people, however some people with mobility issues way have difficulty in going down and up the slopes to the canal path when they are intersected by a road or at the begining and end of the canal path section....
It is a short, simple route through the housing estates on the northern edge of Glasgow between the railway station at Gilshochill and the busy commuter town of Bishopbriggs....

It is a very straightforward route which climbs out of Bishopbriggs and then up to Springburn Park before dropping down through Springburn and following the main road into the centre of Glasgow....

Review of SlowWays Route Biskir one (Bishopbriggs to Kirkintilloch). I walked this route (in reverse) on a bright autumn afternoon and enjoyed it very much....

Much of this can be avoided by following a small but well-established path that closely follows the south side of the railway line through Lenzie....

I've not walked the entire route, but when I walked Glabis One I encountered part of it, and it is overgrown with Japanese knotweed and (for me at least) impassable. The problem is at the footpath linking Littlehill Golf Club to Acredyke Road, passing east of Stobhill Hospital. It is so overgrown it didn't feel safe underfoot....

Easy and pleasant walk mostly along the Forth and Clyde Canal. The towpath has an easy walking asphalt surface, and is popular with cyclists, almost all of whom tinged their bells and gave cheery 'hellos' and 'thank yous' for stepping aside. At Cadder (interesting church) the route leaves the main canal towpath, crosses a bridge, and continues along a quieter footpath on the south side of the canal....

Walk this routeThis is a fairly direct route that connects central Glasgow with Bishopbriggs in an efficient but not unpleasant way. The route does include a short stretch on the very busy A803, but all the pavements and road crossings are safe, and there is the satisfaction of knowing the route is fairly direct...
