Part two of trail run Brighton to Lewes;
https://beta.slowways.org/user/waylist/brilew/13186
Route is mostly good path and lots of signposts making it easy to navigate. Quite steep and rocky/bumpy coming off the downs into Kingston. Wouldn't recommend coming down that path with wheels or unsteady knees. Might be easier going on the next path down?.

Lovely, easy, scenic route from Woodindean straight to the heart of Lewes. One steepish chalky section to take care over if it's wet.

I walked this route from Lewes to Woodingdean on 13th August 2021. It is well-traced on the map and very easily followed on the ground.
From the historic Southover High Street, the walk leaves Lewes by along Juggs Road beside the Swan Pub. In doing so one is taking the path people have followed between Brighton (previously Brighthelmstone) and Lewes for centuries. I leads over a hill to the attractive village of Kingston, where a short detour will find the Juggs pub for refreshments. Out of Kingston, a typically steep downland bostal path heads up onto the Downs, reaching a section of the South Downs Way. The remainder of the route follows a ridgeway with great views to the north and south, passing the Castle Hill nature reserve and Newmarket Hill before a gentle descent to Woodingdean
Most people will probably be heading straight on to Brighton, carrying on along Drove Road. I checked out Woodingdean and had a nice coffee at the Circa Deli, which is situated at the start/end of WOOLEW on Warren Road.

This is a pleasant, direct and easy to follow route from the edge of Brighton into the centre of Lewes. Quite muddy when wet though!.

13 May 2021 Spring

Really loved this walk - combined it with the Brighton to Woodingdean route with a small amend to that one to pick up the Drove Road earlier on Warren Road. Great views and no real challenges, though the chalk path downhill section from Castle Hill can need a little bit of care depending on the weather.
