Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Feb 2024As everyone who has walked this says it is very urban and has a lot of walking by major roads. However it is safe and all the major crossing points that I came across were easy to navigate.
I liked the shortcut through the housing estate to cut off a bit of the main road and when you get into Wokingham there are lots of options to get to the station. My preferred route is to cut through the shops on Market Place via Brown Bag, Giggling Squid the Gig House pub, into Elms Field and then across and turn right to head to the station.
There are public loos in Wokingham and tons of places for coffee and a snack or beer.
I enjoyed this walk even if it was very urban.

09 Jul 2022Wokingham to Bracknell (Wokbra 2) review.
This Slow Way begins at Wokingham train station. A section of main road through town is avoided via Luckley Path (Photo 1) and back streets.
Unfortunately, there is then a long walk alongside the London Road and across the A329.
B-roads are avoided for a while via Beehive Lane (Photo 2) and a quieter walk past a recreation area.
The route into Bracknell is alongside the Wokingham Road.
There is a nice footpath (Photo 3) before an urban walk to end at Bracknell train station.
This is a straightforward walk which avoids the safety issues of Wokbra 1. There are a number of pubs on the main roads.

06 May 2022Bracknell and Wokingham have been approaching each other for some time which means any route between them leads mainly through urban spaces. This route is no exception. Though it is relatively direct and safe it follows busy roads in both Bracknell and Wokingham for a significant distance. I tried to find alternative routes that would either use a footbridge over the railway line or go under Berkshire way from Peacock Meadows but none of them was much better than the suggested route. I would walk along it again only if I lowered my expectations of making an enjoyable trip.
Even though it is possible to follow the route directly from slowways.org site, the resolution is not great and I didn't succeed in importing the route definition to OS maps on my smartphone.
