Straightforward route, we walked in direction from Woburn to Woburn Sands. Lovely variation of scenery, Georgian townhouses, fields, woodland, heathland.

Departs the Newport Road to the NW of Woburn, then into Apsley Wood. One big set of steps (54) which are not as fun uphill in this direction. There are local alternatives (desire paths) to avoid the steps but these are also narrow and steep. Path otherwise pretty good for most sections, will be wet in places in winter. Not for wheels.

One thing of note, Woburn Sands station is ~1km from shops and 'centre'. Limited facilities as coffee shop has closed.

A nice short route across fields, build areas and woodland.

Access would be a little difficult at points due to logs blocking paths and steps on steep inclines.

The route is accurate to the paths on the ground and would definitely walk again!.

A pleasant short walk that links Woburn Sands with Woburn. The route starts at the train station which is about 1km from Woburn Sands centre. If arriving by bus stay on till centre of Woburn Sands.

Up till from station (level crossing at station) going past some large Edwardian houses, arrive in small centre of Woburn Sands, public toilets, snack bars, shops pubs and hotel.

Just as leave Woburn Sands on Woburn road the path is signed to the left. Go into woods over narrow 97cm footbridge.

Path has some muddy patches which branches have been put in as stepping stones.

Following main path up hill, yellow way markers, but lots of little paths. Continue on through the woods till get to flight of approx 50 steps down steep hill. (no alternative way down)

Continue on path coming to a track with gorse on either side and then on through next section of wood.

This then opens on to fields and track that leads to just outside Woburn. Join road with footpath just outside Woburn.

Woburn is small, well preserved Georgian town.

The woods and the fields that the walk goes through are part of the Duke of Bedfords estate and the houses and cottages are all of the same distinctive style.
