Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

01 Apr 2024I completed this walk yesterday travelling northwest from Willenhall. It's a decent route which avoids a bit of road walking by utilising an old dismantled railway. Willenhall has some nice buildings, some of which are in better states than others but interesting nonetheless.
When we dropped down onto the dismantled railway from Temple Bar, the actual footpath was flooded at the point where you double back from the gradient to go back under the road (photo 3). We had to hop a fence to avoid the flooded section, but worth considering if there has been a lot of rain as we have had so far in 2024.
I'm pleased to say the rest of the route was flood free. The section along the old railway through the Memorial Park and Fibbersley nature reserve is pleasant. The final push into Wednesfield is along shared pedestrian and cycle paths. Can be recommended as safe and accurate.

02 Jan 2023Safe, direct, easy to follow and remarkably offroad. Packs a lot in to a mere 3.26km! Wednesfield is full of refreshment options as well as a Sikh temple, War Memorial and supermarket. The pavements are wide and crossings are easy as far as the border from Wolverhampton District into Walsall. At the border, you enter Fibbersley Nature Reserve and the track, which appears to follow an old railway line takes you through to Willenhall. You go through the shops, pubs and stops of Market Place to the meeting place at the bus stop. A model Slow Way.
