Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

The proposed route crosses the A452 (Europa Way). This is the corridor between the M40 and Leamington Spa and Warwick’s industrial estates. The footpaths used on this Slow Ways route emerge from bushes on either side of Europa Way and pedestrians will only be seen by drivers once the pedestrian appears on the road. This is much too dangerous a road to cross. Traffic is fast and frequent. A pedestrian was killed here in late September 2015. There is a slightly longer detour to the north which avoids Europa Way.

Nice walk, but not well marked in places. Phone GPS was a must for me in places. Section near Warwick East of Europa way (A452) West of New house Farm is across a field not well walk. Aim for the tree and then keep going an you should be fine. Section South of the M40 and North of Barbury road should be skipped. The start of the foodpath is clearly marked but is close to impassable in the middle, I recommand you go along the road it has a wide grass verge.

This is a good route with some nice stretches of easy and picturesque walking. I walked it from Kineton to Warwick. There are a couple of short sections which are a little bit tricky. The pools to the west of Lighthorne are currently (May 2021) being developed so the ground is unmade, muddy and rough in places but there are plenty of footpath signs to help. There is a short section in a copse right next to the motorway where the path is indistinct and there are no signs. The footpath west of New House Farm was overgrown with crops and not visible. Otherwise it's an enjoyable route.
