Help connect Warwick
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Warwick’s Slow Ways.

Walk this routeI started to cut the numerous thorns and nettles back, but it occurred to me that clearly no one uses this path and I couldn't reasonably expect anyone else to walk this exact route....

From Chase Meadow Park go onto Narrow Hall Meadow, then Tapping Way and right into Little Field Close, then follow the R hand side of the field around to a gap in the hedge through to the Lake and onto Edgehill Drive2...

Starting in Warwick, the first part you are Detour heading North instead of South, That in it's self is not a bad thing for a slowway, but once your pass the A46 there is a chunck of road/pavement walking and then the track between A4189 and the B4463 is very very overgrown and I'm not sure if it's a right of way....

Starting at Warwick the first part Crossing the dual carriageway is a nightmare and the track between A4189 and the B4463 is very very overgrown and I'm not sure if it's a right of way. That said once you're South of the M40 it is a very good route. East of Snitterfield on the footpath between Snitterfield Lane and Heath End Road there is a narrow field with horses in that they seemed friendly, but as I don't like walking close to large animals that be I back tracked and took the path North of there....

Walk this routeGoing round on the road (as noted, the marked footpath is blocked) I decided to avoid the problems noted with crossing the dreaded A46 from other reviewers; so I just stayed on the A4189 Henley road all the way into Warwick, which is less pleasant with traffic, but has a pavement all the way and, crucially, a safe bridge over the A46....

One steep flight of steps between the River Avon and the Grand Union Canal aqueduct overhead....

Then it's a good walk out of Stratford along the road to the Welcombe Hills. The journey through the golf course is straightforward, and then after passing through 'The Farm' you reach a bit of road walking as you walk towards Snitterfield which you have to be careful with. Before the junction, on the left, is a footpath which takes you towards Snitterfield avoiding the road walking at the junction. It's not a disaster though as there is an alternative path northeast which takes you to Bell Brook where you can rejoin the given path on this route at Heath End Lane. You have to walk along another section of road as you cross the M40, and as this road turns to the left, the route takes a right turn up a dirt track which has been deliberately blocked off by the owner (see my photo 14)....

It's also worth checking that there isn't a meeting on at Warwick racecourse, as I understand the route there gets closed when the races are on....

After that, the walk takes you through the suburbs and through an underpass getting you safely to the other side of the A46 and out of Warwick. A couple of points of interest on the walk; the big abandoned house you see after leaving the underpass is Woodloes Farmhouse, a grade II* listed building....

Steve Litchfield added Warwhi two, a new walk from Warwick to Whitnash
Walk this routeI think it is the best route possible between the two locations and has some really pleasant areas, especially on the Warwick half of the walk. I did the walk in the evening outside of the working day so it was relatively quiet on the roads....
Steve Litchfield
The parks at either end are popular and well looked after, but once you are in the middle section between the two towns, it takes on a different and more rural character which is surprising given the relatively short distance....
Steve Litchfield
A lovely little route with good paths and little on-road pavements (and those are in the historic towns of Warwick and Leamington Spa)....

Walk this routeThe plotting suggests that you join the canal on the near side, which you can't. The canal is an aqueduct so it's obvious that there's no way to join the canal on the near side but the group of us were left to figure out that you gain access to the canal by going under and then turning left before climbing a set of steps....

In particular, if you were heading from Leamington Spa towards Warwick, there would be a risk of confusion or going the wrong way after Victoria Park....

Shortly after passing where Cycle Route 41 crosses the river, the route leaves the tarmac across a worn, grassy footpath to stay close to the river. The route follows the towpath over the aqueduct and on to where the railway crosses over the canal, but leaves the towpath here to follow a footpath alongside the railway, and then the River Leam....

Highlights included passing through a lovely park filled with beautiful old trees, walking along the river Avon, and following stairs up to the aqueduct! There are some very picturesque and characterful old houses in Warwick, which this route encompasses. Nice glimpse of the castle too!...
Saira
A beautiful, relaxed route taking you through the park, alongside the River Avon and the Grand Union Canal, and another small green space when you reach Royal Leamington Spa. I personally loved going from the river to the canal - really cool to see how that is all built and works! There are stairs and some narrow paths, but in general a great walk between 2 lovely end points, whichever direction you go in!...
Ingrina
Parts of the route are very overgrown in the summer and poorly maintained....
Luke Betteridge
The wrong path across the racecourse had been selected as the small bridge into the field has long gone....
Kellouwil
The footpaths used on this Slow Ways route emerge from bushes on either side of Europa Way and pedestrians will only be seen by drivers once the pedestrian appears on the road....
Peter Clear
Very marshy and in parts flooded to the west of the golf course, whilst possible to detour around, not the easiest. Also route sends you through a field you can’t get into as trees grown through gate, but again it’s not too long a detour....

Could be amended to match Kenroy route - will be doing this tomorrow! Is passable, but you have to be brave and detour slightly....

The footpath is swamp west of the golf course dont go this way unless we are in a middle of a drought. Instead head around the east side. Check out the Leamington to Kenilworth walk....
