Description
Like Walsun2, but avoids the closed gate at Sunbury Marina, and the IMO not so safe Felix Road towards the river. The detour is along a road though, but at least there is a good pavement

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

09 Feb 2024I walked this on a cloudy early afternoon, from Sunbury to Walton. It had rained a little in the previous week.
I got out on the south side of the station, so didn't need to get around it. You then walk along a fairly busy street through the residential streets of Sunbury to come out on a lane, School Walk (photo #1, #2). Very straight, but a pleasant walk. After cutting across a green, the route continues along another pavement to end up going across a field (photo #3). It is likely that this path will be temporarily diverted due to building works, but a new route was already on the warning note. It's not a reason to modify the route.
Originally I continued onto Felix Lane, with a narrow footpath behind a line (photo #4), which then goes through the River Ash Estate (photo #4, #6) around the south side of the marina. Near the end with the hut with the sea cadets, there was a locked gate, so I had to walk around, and propose this Walsun 4 (I originally walked Walsun 2). This is along the north side of Fordbridge Road, and then along the east side of Walton Bridge Road.
After crossing the bridge (photo #7) through a loopy twizzle, the route then continues along the Thames (photo #8, #9), and then up some steps (photo #10) to finish in the centre of Walton.
