Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

14 Jun 2023I walked this wonderful route on a Sunday in May, when the Sunbury ferry was running. The ferry cost £2 and took me from north to south bank of the Thames.
Before the ferry I discovered Sunbury Park, a large green space with trees and benches, perfect for picnics.
Sunbury village near the Thames has refreshments.
After crossing the river there was a lovely easy riverside path all the way to Walton. There’s a riverside pub on the way too.
At Walton I went uphill through a park and then stopped at the Riverhouse gallery, a fantastic arts space with a cafe, art exhibition and performances. That day a lively jazz band was swinging along. Bliss!
Definitely 5 star magic from me!!
Remember- this route only works when the ferry is running - weekends and bank holidays between Easter and October.

06 Apr 2024Best to check the ferry. I wanted to walk this, but despite being after Easter the Environment Agency has 'Red Boarded' the very swollen Thames, so no ferries are running.
