Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

09 Feb 2024It is an otherwise good route, but there was a closed gate near the marina, where River Ash Estate meats Penny Lane near the Sea Cadets. It's not a public right of way here. I've uploaded Walsun 4, that solves this problem, where you'll also find my full review.

31 May 2023Walked Walton to Sunbury.
As noted in the route description, this is a route I made to correct some access problems in the original route. In other respects it is as Walsun One.
It’s a mix of pavements, lane and footpath.
The riverside section is busy with people doing marina-y sorts of things; there’s a section across fields, and a long shaded footpath connecting into Sunbury. The final approach to Sunbury Cross is along quite a busy road, which was the only so-so part of the journey.
Although there are ‘private’ signs near the river I’d say they are to deter drivers looking for riverside access. There are plenty of other reasons to access the area, including a hotel and marina, and plenty of people going to and fro, and I didn’t feel at all that this was a ‘no go’ area. The riverside itself is not accessible to the general public.
Overall a decent 4 stars.
