Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

29 Sep 2023I really enjoyed this walk. As other reviewers have said it is almost entirely on road although a good proportion of the roads are unmetalled green lanes & the rest are very quiet country lanes. I dithered whether to give it 4 stars because of being on-road (technically at least), but have given it 5 as I don’t think it could be improved on with a better, off-road route currently (just to be consistent with my review scoring system!) and I thought it was a lovely walk.
There are some steep gradients, and a fairly narrow footpath at Ipplepen, also uneven surfaces on the unmetalled roads with some deep ruts. But no gates, stiles or steps. One main road crossing but good visibility. The advantage of being on lanes was that it was passable after wet weather, only one big puddle!
The unmetalled lanes up out of Totnes are steep but particularly peaceful.
Totnes is a lovely town with plenty of public transport options and refreshment opportunities. There are pubs at Littlehempston and Ipplepen, also shops at Ipplepen.
I’d happily walk it again. In combination with Ippnew it makes a good walking route between Totnes and Newton Abbot.

25 Jun 2021I really enjoyed this walk and would happily walk it again and recommend it to others. The only reason why I'm not giving it four stars is because it's entirely on (quiet green) lanes and some people may be uncomfortable with that.

01 May 2021About half of this is on green lanes. All roads quiet. Once busy A road crossing. Lots of ascent in the early part.
Yes, I'd walk it again and recommend to others. Easy to follow (I was using the OS app alongside).
Took about 1h 30.
