Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 May 2022Decent Slow Way. It’s not the most exciting walk as it traverses an intensively farmed area with a lot of electricity pylons running through it but is pleasant overall and does exactly what it says on the tin. Much of the route follows the waymarked Jubilee Way and a lot of the terrain is flat or very gently undulating, so I found it easy to walk and easy to navigate, and made good time over the distance. It also passes a couple of pubs and a village shop on the way. If I wanted to travel between these two towns, I would happily use it again.
Although there is quite a lot of walking under power-lines and through wheat crops, the farmers have, on the whole, made an effort to ensure that the courses of footpaths are obvious or have provided decent headlands to walk around the edges of the fields and I had only one instance of slightly uncertain wading through a crop of barley. There are also some nice hay meadows full of buttercups, some pleasant tracks and bridleways, and the area has lots of mature trees. All of the short sections of road in the rural areas are quiet.
