Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

24 Jun 2023 (edited 06 Jul 2023)It is possible to get (in my case) from Wheaton Aston to Telford centre using this route, but I wouldn't recommend you do, at least not in summer. Parts were fine, where it is on a road, fenced tracks, or field paths immediately West of Blymhill (photo 3). The rest was very difficult: in some places hard to find; in others easy to find, but hard to traverse (photos 1,4,5,6,7) . There were missing signposts and a locked gate on route that had to be climbed. I was surprised to find a flooded track in June (photo 5) as everywhere else was very dry but this was a very minor obstacle. There was one completely new experience for me, walking on shoddy (shredded wool garments, see photo 2). This isn't actually on the route as given but on a track that parallels it and is very close. Despite several forays to search for it I couldn't find any trace of the path as given in this area. I had never considered walking from Telford to Wheaton Aston, now I know why. I have given an alternative that has more road walking as it misses out a part where I just could not get through a hedge (photo 6) and a nightmare field ( photo 7) , fence ( photo 1 ) and road crossing. I'll include the shoddy path, although its legitimacy is in question. The same applies to the part of the route just to the west of this and to the east of Donnington Wood, as these are private roads. I know this part, walk the private roads often and have never been challenged. I'll also vary the part through Granville to take in the sights (this adds a little distance, adds interest and avoids a part that can be very difficult in winter) .
