Description
This is a great way to walk between Stroud and Nailsworth, with lots of beautiful and charming places. It make use of the canal, Cotswolds Way and National Cycle Network Route 45. It is almost identical to Strnai One, but corrects a small accuracy/right of way issue.
I really enjoyed this walk. It's a more varied route than simply following the cycle network, including more views, villages and easily accessible pubs.

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

15 Jan 2023All fine, lots of variety and hill isn't too steep really (by Stroud standards). One tip is that after the Council offices you need to keep left through the Council car park, over the river and get up on to the embankment (above the busy road). Then walk on the embankment as far as the pedestrian crossing and follow sign for Cotswold way up over field to Selsey. When walking through field before Selsey about 3/4 of way up you need to bear left to gate on LHS on to road. All easy from there.

15 Jan 2023This is a lengthier route than just walking directly to Nailsworth along the canal cycle path but also more interesting. It takes you along the canal path to Ebley then some gentle ups and downs up to Selsley Common and through fields to Woodchester and then down to join the canal path into the centre of Nailsworth. Really pretty and varied walk. Some muddy bits I would recommend this route.

28 May 2022I designed this route to fix an issue with Strnai One.
It is a good route. It's further, hillier, less direct and has more stiles and lanes to walk compared to following the the cycle path in the valley... but it also has more variety, views and on-route refreshment stops!
I walked to Nailsworth from stroud on this route and returned via the cycle path. I'll be sharing an alternative route option to follow the cycle path too. Both a great, just different.
