Description
St Helier to Mitcham via Ravensbury Park and Belgrave Walk tram stop.
I made this route in response to reviews of Sthmit One, which all suggest rerouting via Ravensbury Park. I agree this seems to be a more pleasant route, and shows off the green spaces of this part of South London better

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

21 Jan 2024I walked this on a cold slightly overcast afternoon, from Mitcham to St Helier.
It's a really residential route, with some nice bits. The route tries to put all the pleasant bits together.
After leaving Mitcham, you following Love lane along the route, and some footpaths to end up at a church (photo #1). The route then has you go Church Path, but I avoided that and instead used the crossing at the roundabout to get to Hallowfield Way. Church Road itself was too busy to just cross. Passing a slightly dodgy industrial estate, you cross the tram tracks at Belgrave Walk, before ending alongside Morden Road for a short while. Ravensbury Park (photo #2, #3, #4) then follows, and it's lovely to walk through. I can recommend the rest of the Wandle Walk too. From then, it is mostly pavement walking, with a last pleasant walk through Morden Recreation Ground (photo #5). I just missed my train and St Helier, and as it was windy it was very cold on the platform (photo #6).

22 Aug 2023Much better through Ravensbury Park. Pleasant, interesting route. Crossing roads easy at traffic lights mainly.

25 Jun 2023Good direct route with a mix of urban streets, paths, and some parkland.
I had a cup of tea at the cafe next to the entrance to Ravensbury Park, then skidaddled all the way to St Helier station non-stop.
