Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

18 Jan 2023Review of SlowWays route Stevkil one (Stevenston to Kilwinning).
I walked this route in reverse (Kilwinning to Stevenston) on a bright, winter's day in January 2023. It is a short, direct route which follows the A738 all the way. I started in Kilwinning which has an impressive ruined Abbey and a number of other interesting buildings. The route then takes the pavement all the way to Stevenston Town centre. The route is not unattractive, with some good views and lots of things to attract the interest of the curious traveller. However I couldn't help thinking that following the much quieter Byrehill Road and Dubbs Road might have made for a more attractive (albeit longer) route. There is one major road crossing at the Pennyburn Roundabout but a good pedestrian crossing is provided. Overall a simple, clear, direct route, easy to follow but noisy and rather monotonous in places.
