Agree with previous review. This route is along the main road between Stanhope and Frosterley. There is a pavement most of the way, but there are sections where it disappears, mostly where the road is bendy and dangerous.
There is a very quiet road on the other side of the river. Much better option.

Report

This route follows the main road; cars travel fast along this road and there are sections without a footpath. It is possible to get from Stanhope to Wolsingham on public footpaths away from the road but this involves crossing back and forth across the river, those paths can be muddy.
