Description
I would suggest some amendments to the Slow Ways route to reduce substantially the amount of road walking. Take the Dales Way route out of Staveley, but cross the river above Cowan Head at Hagg Foot and continue all the way to Burneside along the river bank (on its north east). Enter Burneside behind the Croppers paper mill, through the village and then on the way out after the last house take the path across the field towards the railway. Walk beside this until the outskirts of Kendal, through a little housing estate, over a pedestrian railway bridge, down to the main Burneside Road, back under road bridge, then on a track behind houses until the route emerges onto the river bank again. Walk along this into town to the bus station. These changes make it a lovely riverside route on good paths

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
