Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

27 Feb 2023I completed this walk today travelling southwards from Rugby. It was good walk and I enjoyed the route. The first third of the route feels quite urban, as it's not really until you leave Rugby, Dunchurch & the M45 behind that you get into rural countryside. The remaining walk then has an agricultural feel as it passes next to and through various farms, with several fields containing livestock. The overall gradient of the walk is downhill taking this direction.
The Shoulder of Mutton is an excellent pub, at the halfway point in Grandborough, and also doubles as a shop. The pub is open throughout the day serving breakfasts, lunches and dinners, so plenty of choice for refreshments there.
There are a good volume of gates, stiles and footbridges to negotiate, particularly after Dunchurch. The road walking is minimal, and those that are there seemed quiet when I did this route. The crossroads at Dunchurch and the roundabout crossing the Southam bypass towards the end are the busiest roads, but have a crossing and refuge to help. Being winter I thought the route would be muddier, but I only encountered one or two slightly muddy areas by gates in fields.
I can recommend this route as part of the network, although because of the road walking it doesn't quite get the full five stars from me.
