09 Oct 2022I walked this on a warm autumn afternoon, from South Harefield to RIckmansworth.
Almost the full length of this route is along the Grand Union Canal, which was quiet, and pleasant, and the colours in the trees just started to turn. I think in another one or two weeks it'd be awesome. The least nice part was from the GUC into Rickmansworth, where there is a busy roundabout, which you can mostly avoid by immediately taken the protected crossing on the bridge once you get off the canal. I don't really have much more to say, and lets hope the photos speak for themselves!.

27 May 2022I walked from South Harefield to Rickmansworth.
A short walk from the Dolphin chippy is the Grand Union Canal. Then it's pretty much canal all the way apart from the final approach to Rickmansworth. A lovely walk, easy to navigate, lots to see, boats, wildlife, 'arty' stuff. It was a hot day and I knew when I was briefly passing the sewage works even though I could not see it. Lots of history including a Coal Post.
The mapping is a bit sloppy but it is hard to get lost. Nasty roundabout and nice church on entering Rickmansworth. Tube is 200m from the town centre.
A very lovely walk, probably okay for wheels although there were a couple of steep (25%) bridges.

24 Apr 2021Beautiful route, mostly off road and largely along the canal towpath through the Colne valley. Hard to believe you're so close to London with this much nature and peace! Public transport connections at Rickmansworth tube (metropolitan line) and then West Ruislip (central line) is 5km further walking from the South Harefield end. Refreshments at Jack's Mill Cafe looked good.
