Description
Walked this in April 2024 from Monmouth towards Skenfrith after a very wet winter and spring. Route mainly follows Skemon One from Monmouth to Tregate Bridge but avoids little used section of path near Osbaston Weir that may be flooded.
Paths were generally well used and while muddy, not a problem is wearing walking boots. Several stiles on the route between Tregate Bridge and Skenfrith. The route is generally quite level, but towards Skenfrith the route climbs over Coedanghred Hill. From just outside Monmouth to Tregate Bridge on a quiet single track country lane. Route avoids little used path but rejoins Skemon One after avoiding section of path that may be flooded

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Apr 2024Slightly shorter but hillier than Skemon1. View down to Skenfrith village and castle from Coedanghred Hill makes the climb worthwhile. Stiles mean not practical except for walkers north of Tregate Bridge, though alternatives exist on quiet lanes for bikes from Tregate Bridge to Skenfrith and from to get out of Monmouth.
