Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

This one specializes in the beautiful footpaths just leaving Simonsbath & entering Hawkecome woods. Coming down from Little Hill you finally get to see that amazing clear water sea I've always heard about on the west coast.

At Porlock, they have the first camp site I've seen that actually has a washing machine & dryer, so take the chance to wash those clothes while you can.

WARNING: I've added an image for reference, and cows tend to get moved a lot anyway, but keep an eye out as you go through the 2nd to final gate before Wellshead Lane. The hinges are completely rotten & only held up by the gate opening mechanism. As soon as I opened it the whole thing fell over smashing my shin in front of 20+ cows about 40ft away. WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE BULLS! Had to yank the gate back up and into persition as they started charging me. Then they started trying to get through the fence & attempted clambering over before I jumped over a mud wall and fence into the right farmers field. I'd highly advise taking the gate on the right a couple 100 meters earlier which you'll have seen easily. Going through the field and down the track onto the road instead. All the gates can be opened, so no climbing necessary if the bulls happen to be there for you as well.
