Description

The majority of this route is beside the (stream-like) River Shuttle and follows the signposted Shuttle Riverway. It's quiet, rather charming, very green(/blue) and more offroad than not. You also get to see Lamorbey Park with views across small lake to grand Grade 2 listed Lamorbey House (now a drama college), take a break from the sun in shady beech woodland (Bexley Woods) or feel smug looking down at the congested traffic on the A2.

Most of the route is offroad, through parks, riverside footpaths, beside allotments or playing fields. There are no obvious midroute facilities. There are anti-motorbike-style kissing gates and staggered fences and the A2 footbridge has a choice of steps or a long ramp, Bexley Woods definitely has an earthy surface that might get muddy if the Shuttle floods.

The Shuttle Riverway has a route guide with wonderful details of the wildlife and history.

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

  1. Complete the survey training.
