Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Mar 2024Walked this route from Chipping Norton to Shipton under Wychwood in March 2024 after a very wet winter. As an able bodied experienced walker this was an enjoyable route inspite of the mud, but would not be suitable for for a pushchair/buggy or wheelchairs as there are many stiles and it is most offroad across fields on footpaths and bridleways. There are no toilets, pubs or shops on route.
I have added the following notes using Grid References:
306257 to 304253 - path goes across the middle of a crop field. OK at the moment but might be tricky over summer if not kept clear.
298243 steep and muddy
294240 to 287237 I found the way between these points a bit tricky to find.
294219 suggest not using the bridleway and footpath via Merriscourt Farm in wet/muddy conditions. Instead keep on Darcy Dalton Way to 296213 then follow to Lyneham.
Lyneham - suggest going via village 277204 as the B road can be busy.
