29 Oct 2022This is a pleasant rural walk, mostly through farmland. The Sharnbrook half of the route is mostly along well maintained and well signposted paths around the edge of fields and woodland. As you get nearer to Riseley the path is less clearly defined and cuts across the middle of several fields. It doesn't appear that the farmer maintains these paths, so it is Ok in the autumn and winter, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to cross these fields in spring or summer. The route does cross the A6, which is busy with fast-moving traffic. We decided not to walk alongside the A6 down to Park Lane as the route said, as there is no pavement. We crossed the road almost immediately as there is a central reservation, so you only have to cross one lane at a time. Having crossed the road, the public footpath is only about 20 metres down the road, so there is less road walking than the route suggests.
