Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Jul 2023 (edited 27 Sep 2023)This route is basically the same as SevSol 1, I think it was uploaded to fix the problem of the elevation not showing. Dr E Thompson has left a review on SevSol 1 which unfortunately says there is some unsafe road walking between Sole Street and Meopham, particularly along Camer Rd.
I have walked parts of this route now, while testing to find an improved version. There was another quite long and problematic road walking stretch on Harvel Road, which goes along the north side of Vigo Village. It's actually outside the village, has no pavement, no houses beside and no speed restriction. I walked a little way but then went through the village instead. I've been along it in a car too and it was fairly fast with two way traffic. Going through Vigo Village (past a shop and a pub) then into Trosley Country Park (nice walking, good signage) and joining the North Downs Way there seems much safer and more practical.
North of Vigo Village there's a lot of walking along country lanes which although relatively quiet are lined with houses. It's a bit boring.
The section along the North Downs Way, especially along Pilgrims Way was enjoyable, some bits look like road walking on a map but are actually along paths just the other side of the hedge. It runs along the high ground along the base of the escarpment so has nice views, although not quite on as grand as from the top.
I was surprised that the route goes pretty close to places where you can stop but not actually past them, Camer Park public loos, Vigo shop and pub, Trosley Country Park cafe and public loos, Wrotham 2 pubs and public loos. OS maps do have labels for post offices, pubs and toilets but other map systems often don't, and neither are neccessarily reliable.
I also wondered about some of the other road walking on the route but didn't test it.
