Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

23 Nov 2023Excellent Slow Way, most enjoyable. Apart from the road at Selsdon almost all on quiet lanes/footpaths, well plotted. Beautiful autumn colours in the trees.
Walked Selsdon to Warlingham. The Old Farleigh Road out of Selsdon is very steep and fairly busy with a constant flow of traffic. Steep downhill from Selsdon, uphill from Warlingham - but good pavements all the way.
This is only reason I dropped a star, from the turn into Kingswood Way it is solid 5 stars. Just the sort of quiet lane/bridle path for great walking.
There was some mud and large puddles along the lane. As another reviewer has mentioned, the turn off onto the narrower footpath by the equestrian centre is easy to pass by, not because it isn’t signed, but because Kingswood Lane continues on its pleasant walkable way! This point marks where Greater London turns into Surrey, for those who care about such things!
At Hamsey Green rec ground the route takes two sides of the square, but of course you can go straight across the middle if no match is on.
No steps or gates/stiles - some narrower paths and the steep hill, but overall pretty easy going.
I really enjoyed this walk and no problem recommending for the network.

13 Jul 2022 (edited 14 Jul 2022)I walked from Warlingham (403 bus from West Croydon). The route is soon in pleasant countryside but it's easy to miss the narrow path (left) just after the equestrian centre. Old Farleigh Road has fairly busy traffic and is quite a steep hill. Good Sainsbury's at Selsdon with Toilets.

15 Oct 2021Begins with a stretch of road that can't really be avoided, but afterwards a pleasant walk.
