Description

This is a modification of SawHav two that avoids the closed path between Sawston and Babraham. It uses the cycleway / footpath alongside, but separate from, the road instead. The main part of the route is still along the Roman Road from Worsted Lodge to Horseheath

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

The route between Sawston and Babraham is not very inspiring, so it may be worth checking if there is a better one once the housing development is finished.
The A1307 near Babraham is very busy, so needs care to cross, but there is a central refuge, which makes it easier. The road through Babraham has pavement all the way.
The Roman Road is a wide, straight path, mainly running between hedgerows. It is a nice walk. In places it had been churned up by bikes and horses when I walked it in March.
At the Haverhill end there is some road walking: the road is not very busy but in places there is no way to get off the road because the hedges come up to the verge.
In Haverhill most of the route is off road or along wide pavements.
