Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

The path is 95% accurate, except for the section entering the outskirts of Frodsham: there is no footpath from the fields onto Thirlmere Close (this is someone's garden!).

I've submitted a new version to correct this.

On a very cold, wet and windy day, we decided to try out the Runcorn to Frodsham slow way. Unfortunately, we were unable to download the route to our Strava, so tried to follow the route as closely as we could.
From Runcorn RailwayStation to Sutton Causeway, this is a very straightforward route. Mostly travelling along pavements and pathways, the going is easy. Once onto the Weaver, the pathway is mostly grass, narrow in places, and rather uneven. It has good views of the canal, especially during the summer months, when narrow boats and rowers can be seen. When the wether is dry, the paths are quite easy to navigate, but wet weather does mean that it can be rather muddy in places.
Crossing over The River Weaver, near the Water Sports Centre, we missed the entry point onto the pathway...we carried on up the road and found another entrance, via Ellis Lane, which met up with the original route.
The road led to a pathway through a wooded area. Here it was quite difficult to decide which was the correct route, as there were several forks, with no signs to help. We found a way through which took us along a path along the edge of a field. This brought us out at Langdale Lane.
From there, it was a short walk through a housing estate, where we saw the first, and only sign to Frodsham Railway Station.
